Since WordPress is rapidly changing and improving all the time, one needs to keep their site updated to the latest technology.  Soon enough, WP will be advancing to version 3.2.  Do you know if your host provider has the latest versions of PHP and MySQL for the new WP upgrade?  WordPress 3.2 will strictly require PHP version 5.2 and MySQL version 5.0.15.

Two ways you can check:

Manual Way (http://codex.wordpress.org/Finding_Server_Info)

1. Create a new document in Notepad or any other text editor
2. Type the following with no spaces or lines above or below: <? php phpinfo(); ?>
3. Save the file as checkversion.php or any other name you like, but should end with .php
4. Upload using an FTP client to the root of your domain name where wordpress is hosted.
5. Run http://yourdomain.com/checkversion.php in your browser

You will then see a detailed page revealing all the information about your server’s configuration but importantly for this topic the PHP version and MySQL version.

Or upload the Health Check plugin.

1. In your WP, click on Add New under Plugins
2. In the search box type: Health Check
   
3. Click Install Now and activate

Once you activate it, on the top a box pops up and if your host is up to date it will say:

Excellent: Your server is running PHP version 5.2.17 and MySQL version 5.0.91 which will be great for WordPress 3.2 onward.
